THE ex partner of a bloke who ran off with a Ukrainian refugee the family were hosting says she is “riled” by his plan to travel to the war-torn country to save orphans.
Tony Garnett, 29, reckons he and new girlfriend Sofiia Karkadym can help end the Ukraine War themselves by saving “hundreds of lives” and are looking to raise £10,000 in their gallant mission.
But Lorna Garnett, 28, who has two kids with Tony, said her ex and his 22-year-old Ukrainian squeeze’s plans are “laughable” and has accused him of putting orphans ahead of his own kids.
Speaking from her home in Bradford, West Yorkshire, Lorna told The Sun Online: “It riles me a bit, he hasn’t seen his kids in 3-months… What about helping his children?
“He needs to put his kids first before helping anyone else in Ukraine.
“He just hasn’t been bothered to contact them. It’s laughable, absolutely laughable.”
But former security guard Tony categorically denies the accusations.
He told The Sun Online: “If I go to even ask to see my kids or even go near the house – I will get arrested.
“She said the plans are laughable because I want to help people that are fleeing a war zone and there are children dying?
“My kids come first before anything else.
“She has been lying saying I can see the kids even though I can’t.
“I would do anything for my kids but I cannot see my kids because of her lies.”
She claims Tony – following a restraining order placed on him after he allegedly bombarded Lorna with abusive messages – was advised to put in child arrangement orders to see his kids.
But Lorna – who changed her name to Tony’s surname so it was nice for the kids – claims he hasn’t done this yet.
Tony told The Sun Online he is going to court to amend this.
It comes as Lorna claimed he has had “no contact with his kids since June”.
The mum-of-two – who does not work – also accused her ex of not sending any support to his two kids, a claim Tony denies.
The jobless dad-of-two previously told YorkshireLive that him and his Ukrainian squeeze want to do what they can to save Ukraine.
And they even plan to share their journey on Instagram and YouTube.
‘SAVE HUNDREDS OF LIVES’
Heavily tattooed Tony said: “I want to raise money for people who look after orphans and all those that have been wounded.
“The longer [the war] goes on for then there’s going to be more deaths – and some could be stopped with this help.
“I could save hundreds of lives. Even if I save the life of one person then that is worth it for me.”
Discussing Tony’s grand plan Lorna burst into hysterics, telling The Sun Online: “Both me and my friends just laughed.
“How he thinks he can go over there and save lives and yet there is an army our there doing that is beyond me.
“How one man can do it on his own is beyond me – it’s nuts. Good luck to him!”
Tony told The Sun on Tuesday he plans to travel to the war-ravaged country for two weeks once he has raised enough money.
But is not clear when exactly Tony and Sofiia will be setting off.
Tony stunned partner Lorna by walking out just ten days after they welcomed Sofiia – from Lviv – into their family home.
He was introduced to Sofiia on Facebook and offered to become her UK sponsor.
Lorna previously told The Sun on Sunday: “She set her sights on Anthony from the start, decided she wanted him and she took him.
“I just don’t understand how he could throw all that away for a woman he’s known for a fortnight. The life I knew is shattered.”
Tony told The Sun: “We’re sorry for the pain we’ve caused but I’ve discovered a connection with Sofiia like I’ve never had before.
“We’re planning the rest of our life together.”
Tony has moved another woman and her boyfriend from Ukraine into his new home in Bradford, West Yorks – he says they are “fending for themselves” after securing jobs.
